Reading Joseph Campbell is one thing but hearing him lecture is a whole other experience! Just like actually taking a class of his. Interesting content with surprisingly good audio, considering the age.

Great archival recordings. The whispering narrator does not seem to develop or elaborate on what is already there.

Joseph Campbell is so much more than the hero’s journey. His explanations on mysticism and comparisons between Eastern and Western traditions, his recounting of conversations with gurus about the mystical position on evil and stupidity, his anthropological comparisons, all account to an incredible wealth of knowledge. Only someone with profound mastery can explain some of the most complex and arcane subjects in such simple terms. Having access to so much of it via this podcast is priceless. Thank you for doing this.

The Joseph Campbell foundation no longer offers the collected works on Apple Music anymore, which I listened to multiple times. I am glad they now offer these lectures on this podcast.

I can't begin to tell how much reading through his Masks of God series helped me along the path to living out of my own center--to "follow my bliss" as he would put it. Reading the symbols of the religious tradition I was brought up in literally did NOT work for me. Thanks to Campbell I now read them metaphorically and am constanly awed and fascinated with the mystery of it all. Amazing teacher! Thanks again.
