    Best Classical Home Education Explained
I started listening to this podcast after using Memoria Press homeschool curriculum. I thought I had a decent understanding of Classical education (we had been planning to send my kids to a University Model Classical Christian school) but it turns out I only had an understanding of neo-classical / the trivium. This podcast had been extremely helpful in finally grasping both the what and why of classical education. Each week something new clicks! Thank you for this podcast!
  • ???? Don’t know
    Meh
I really wanted to love this podcast. I was excited when I learned about it. However, it is difficult to listen to. I do not love the beginning, where the hosts just chit chat and talk about the books they are reading. Also, I just got done listening to the episode about kindergarten readiness. I was really excited to listen to it, however, the guest, Tanya, barely got to talk at all. The hosts would ask her a question and then answer it for her. I was interested in what she had to say because she is an expert in that area. That was a big missed opportunity. There are usually way too many people talking over each other. Next, I am by no means a Charlotte Mason diehard, but the episodes about her were hard to listen to. The way the hosts were laughing about her and acting like they are way more intellectually competent than she was, was pretty off-putting.

    Exposed!
I would never trust a curriculum company that spouts such ignorance. Not that Charlotte Mason educators need a curriculum company; maybe they’re threatened because they can’t make any money off of us. ;)

Unqualified to talk about Charlotte Mason
Disturbingly uninformed yet arrogant. Read Charlotte Mason for yourself, don’t trust a bunch of content creators to tell you what she said or to tell you anything, ftm. BTW, Memoria Press is just a bunch of workbooks.

    CM blunder
I don’t feel the need to speak about how this podcast misrepresented Charlotte Mason. The issues with their assessment will be clear to anyone who has read her works and implemented her philosophy. The bigger issue, to me, is the complete lack of grace and humility exhibited by the speakers. I truly believe they represented themselves, and Memoria Press, very poorly. These are not people I would go to for discipleship in any area of my life.

Like being part of The Finer Things Club
Listening to this podcast makes me feel like I’m part of The Finer Things Club from The Office 😂. I love how each podcast begins with a discussion on books because their honest opinions encourage me. It’s okay to be “the only person” who doesn’t like a classic. It’s okay to DNF a book. And it’s totally ok to swear off sad animals stories forever! I just genuinely enjoy this podcast. The hosts have good chemistry, they have good conversations, and I enjoy the topics they cover. This podcast is intellectual and encouraged me to keep learning for myself. It excites me to teach my children new things. And it’s just interesting! I’m convinced that a Christian classical education is the way, and I’m feeling so excited and encouraged to begin first grade with my child!

    Complete misunderstanding of Charlotte Mason
For context: my child attends a Charlotte Mason hybrid school and I am in the process of launching a Classical hybrid school. Your discussion on Charlotte Mason educational principles shows that you do not have a clear understanding of her works. Did you just read the 20 principles and nothing else? The entire conversation came off as we know better so we’ll just trash Charlotte Mason. My understanding and experience of Charlotte Mason education is nothing like what you incorrectly interpreted. Why not invite a Charlotte Mason expert or podcaster on and have a respectful discussion highlighting the differences and seeking to understand each other? Then, after that, you could have a follow up conversation with your opinions.

One star for your CM episode
Wow. Please go ahead and read more than the 20 principles and a handful of articles and then come back and have a discussion because the folks here are discussing Charlotte Mason’s comments on Maria Montessori as relates to the stultifying of the child through a prepared, child-sized environment. Most points of comment are not Mason’s philosophy at all but that of Montessori and they don’t understand either philosophy.

Too many hosts speaking over each other
I can’t listen to this podcast. Way too many people talking over each other. Hosts are not factual. This podcast is so cringe. Get some factual information and think before you speak on a podcast. To the hosts on here: for crying out loud you represent a company. Who is monitoring this podcast?

    Accessible and engaging!
As a homeschool mom of seven years who is only just jumping into classical education, this podcast has been life-giving! The encouragement and wisdom shared is so accessible and engaging even to those who were not classically educated themselves and have little knowledge of the things we are teaching our children today. I can put an episode on for a quick 5 minutes while I have time to kill and am amazed at what I learn in such a short time. As for Memoria Press users, it’s an added bonus that listening to these episodes helps you feel a connection with those who have created the materials your children are using, it gives a deeper understanding behind the “why” of what we are doing everyday and motivates me to keep going on the hard days. I feel like these are my friends! Lol. Big thanks to Shane and the gang.

    Very helpful for classical educators
As one still new to the world of classical education, I have benefited immensely from Shane et al’s stimulating conversations.

    Enjoyable and Informative
I’m enjoying diving deeper into specific aspects of classical education! This podcast is helping me understand my own children’s education with Memoria Press and also how to explain it to others!

    Entertaining information
This podcast brings to life the people, stories, and methodology of the beautiful classical learning style of the Memoria Press curriculum. I am new to homeschooling and new to Memoria Press. Because of covid I jumped into homeschooling so I really appreciate the interesting stories about classical education, history, the teachers at the Highland Latin School and the "Why" for the classical education - all of which have been topics in this podcast. This has been a beautiful year of learning for my children and myself, and this podcast is a delightful and encouraging supplement. On those rough days when the kids just aren't into schoolwork or the craziness of life happens, it's a great listen for me so I can be ready to get back into teaching mode. Thanks Shane and Memoria Press family.
